Hi there! Welcome to our little corner of the cyber world. You can usually find us on here somewhere. I guess I could tell you a little about us. We live in Glade Valley, North Carolina. Henry is a truck driver from Delaware. He works for Estes out of the Charlotte, NC terminal. He's been involved in computers for about 27 years. He's also a Microsoft Level 2 systems programmer. Sometimes, he wonders which line of work is the biggest head ache!
In my "younger" days, I attended
Alleghany High School in Sparta. My parents and I moved to Sparta in 1973 from St. Albans, West Virginia. My parents are originally from Elyria, Ohio. My dad, Chuck Chapman, owns his own welding business and my mom, Pam, helps dad out with "office" type things.
     Then there's
Tommy. He's 16 now, and is in the 10th grade at Alleghany High School. He likes riding his Pop-pop's 4 wheeler, playing on the computer and hunting. He has quite an imagination. We like to watch the races, ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and working on the computer. Henry, well, you get a firearm in his hands during hunting season, you might not see him for a while. He loves to hunt. He even has Tommy in to it. He could call turkeys with the best of them! Henry's favorite drivers are Ernie Irvan, Dale Jarrett, and Richard Petty. Mine are Kyle Petty, Ernie Irvan, Michael Waltrip, Tony Stewart and Bobby Hamilton. Tommy really doesn't have a favorite driver, but does favor Terry Labonte, since he has a toy car that has his number on it.
     We attend
St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Sparta. I've been a member there since my parents and I moved from West Virginia. Henry has been a member since right before he and I got married. I also teach Sunday School there now.
Growing up, I was involved with, I guess you'd call it the 4-H Dairy Club. Youth from all over the county and state competed in Dairy shows. I'm not involved in it any more, haven't been in about 15 years. But any way, I showed for Richard Edwards in the county shows and at the regional shows held in North Wilkesboro. I also showed in Independence one year and Rich Valley, VA one year. The animals and I worked for several blue ribbons a few red, and 5th and 7th And after about 9 years of showing, in 1996, got a trophy in Junior Grand Champion. This was the first year that I did not show for Richard. I showed for Hampton and Murphy Dairy, showing an animal called "H & M's Mars Triple T" (I called her TT for short). I will be forever in debt to Richard Edwards, Fred Hampton, and Bob Murphy for all that they had done for me over those years. Because of this activity that I had taken part of for so long, I feel like I am a better person. Through all of this, I had found out what hard work was very early.
I'm also into genealogy. It's fun finding out about all of this stuff about my family. But, just like showing the cows, it's hard work. It can be frustrating at times. It's been quite an education. I've learned things about my family that I had never imagined. I've went as far back as the 1500's in Germany on one "branch" of my family tree. You can check out my genealogy website at
Leanne's Genealogy Gorge.
One other person that Henry and I are very grateful for is Jim Tarvid, owner of
LSnet. He has really put up with a lot from us. We're always calling or e-mailing him. If we're not doing that, then, either Henry is over there, or there's something wrong!!! He and his wife Barbara have really stuck their neck out to help us get our business going, and for this we extend to them a great big, heart felt "THANK YOU"!
